Linux or Open Source Migration – 7 Steps to Success
Most organizations already have some form of open source in their IT environment, and many are looking to incorporate more – usually in the form of Linux. But it’s not a foolproof technology solution and migrations need to be well planned out and executed correctly. Most organizations would be advised to seek a Linux professional, but if you decide to go it on your own, here are 7 steps to... (posted by Charles 1 year 121 days ago.)

Extending Hardware Life – Moving Beyond the Three Year Lifecycle
It seems to me that somewhere back a spell the hardware giants got together and created the three year hardware upgrade. Some very intelligent and talented sales person perhaps extolled Moore’s Law and painted pictures of massive data center downtime should hardware not be refreshed every three years. This is a brilliant sales move, guaranteeing quota at least every three years. But... (posted by Charles 1 year 135 days ago.)

Overseas Joint Surgery – 10 Tips for a Better Experience
I’m a big fan of health tourism provided you find the right destination. If you’ve read any of my previous articles then you know I’m a fan of New Zealand as that destination –for many reasons, not the least of which are clean, state-of-the-art facilities and highly trained doctors and surgeons. So let’s assume that you’re in the market for a knee or hip... (posted by Charles 1 year 141 days ago.)

Traveling to New Zealand? Read This First…
So if you’re read any of my past articles, then you’ve read how New Zealand is fast becoming a destination for health tourism. Orthopedic surgeries such as knee replacements or hip replacements can be performed in New Zealand for a fraction of the cost they can be done elsewhere. I’ve written about how safe New Zealand is relative to other health tourism destinations such as India and Thailand.... (posted by Charles 1 year 156 days ago.)

Happy Holidays! Here’s Your Knee Replacement
The older my parents get – in fact the older any of my relatives get – the harder it is to find a holiday gift that they could really use. I usually end up getting them a gift certificate for a meal out, or some useless trinket that will sit on their coffee table collecting dust – which they then have to clean. I missed the opportunity two years ago to give my mother (and father) something... (posted by Charles 1 year 162 days ago.)

The US healthcare system is one of the best in the world, but health insurance in the States is broken, so that wonderful healthcare is also the most expensive in the world. But when you are researching your options you need to look at factors beyond price. Why you ask? Well think of any purchase you make there are things that you can afford to...
